Employ

We offer employment to women who otherwise may not find employment. Many of the women we serve have felonies on their records, have open court cases, or emotional trauma that prevents them from holding down a regular job, keeping them in the cycle of chronic homelessness. At Prodigal Pottery, we do not turn any woman away based on her past, but employ these women to help them take hold of their future.

Empower

Our most important “E”…empower! We work daily to empower the women we serve through dignified work where they know they are valued, loved, and supported. Our greatest desire for our women is that they would walk out the doors of Prodigal Pottery every day knowing they are strong, capable, and loved, and that the Lord has a powerful and important plan for their life.

About Prodigal Pottery

Prodigal Pottery is handmade by women fleeing homelessness, domestic abuse and sex-trafficking outside of Birmingham, Alabama. We work to employ, equip and empower women in need in the name of Jesus.

Prodigal Pottery works directly out of King's Home, a women's shelter outside of Birmingham, Alabama for women fleeing homelessness and domestic abuse. The women we employ are residents of King's Home Shelby, which is a long term shelter offering safety and care for women and their children for up to 2 years. In addition to our employees from King's Home, Prodigal Pottery also employs women from Wellhouse, a safe house outside of Birmingham, Alabama for women fleeing sex-trafficking.

Equip

We work to equip the women we employ with skills needed to succeed outside the safety and protection of King's Home. We work with our staff to provide financial training, emotional care and support, professional skills, and assistance finding stable living situations and transportation when they are preparing to graduate from King’s Home. Helping transition the women we serve out of chronic homelessness into stability is a foundation of our program.
